Springtime Signals Home Improvement Season

With warmer weather just around the corner, Americans are dusting off their home improvement to-do lists and finding that a large number of projects fell through the cracks in 2006.

A recent homeowner survey showed that 61 percent of respondents didn't get around to all the home improvements they had planned for 2006; many neglected their home exterior and outdoor space the most. Although 60 percent of the homeowners surveyed said they would like to spend more time relaxing outdoors, more than half said they don't have time to tackle a big project. In addition, the homeowners survey conducted by the Professional Awning Manufacturers Association (PAMA), indicated that 41 percent of homeowners anticipated a home renovation would be too expensive.

Fortunately for homeowners, creating an outdoor space for relaxation and entertainment doesn't have to require a lot of time or money. Many survey respondents have added a home awning as an easy way to create an outdoor room while protecting the space from rain, sun and damaging UV rays. In fact, 74 percent of the homeowners surveyed said the most appealing benefit of adding an awning or canopy is the protection it provides from elements.

A fabric awning or canopy can enhance your investment in a deck or patio by shielding you from the rain or hot sun while you enjoy your outdoor space. Awnings can be customized with varying amounts of light transmittance and UV resistance, blocking up to 95 percent of the sun's harmful rays. Another benefit is that they add value and enhance the beauty of your home.
