Interior design and sports: decorating with golf balls

Golf balls can be used off the course, as decorative items in the home. For a golf enthusiast, there are many interior decorating options that incorporate golf balls. Try some of these suggestions in your home:

SPORTY REFLECTION

Create a golf course border around your mirror. You will need the following materials: a piece of green carpeting or a sheet of fake grass cut to the dimensions of you mirror, multi-colored golf tees, and golf balls. You will also need the following supplies: a handsaw, glue, and a razor or box cutter. Use your box cutter to cut out a hole in the center of your green carpeting. Make the hole as large as you want your mirror to be, and instead of cutting a circular hole, cut the hole into the shape of a kidney bean, because that is often the shape of golf course greens. Use a strong glue to affix your carpeting to your mirror. Allow to dry completely before you move on to the next step. Use the handsaw to cut your golf balls in half. Coat the flattened half of the golf balls with glue, and attach them to your grass carpeting; just scatter them around. Next, scatter the tees onto you're your carpeting by attaching them with glue. Glue some tees underneath golf balls, so you create the illusion that the tee is holding the ball up. Now you have created a golf course mirror border that you can enjoy every day! By the way, the kidney bean shape that you cut out of the carpet for your mirror doesn't have to go to waste - use it as a bath mat!

WINDOW TREATMENT

Buy a basic window valence kit at a craft store or home repair store. Follow the instructions for assembling the valence. Use a handsaw to cut golf balls in half. Next, paint glue onto the valence in horizontal stripes. Each stripe should be as wide as a golf ball, and each stripe should be two inches apart from the next one, so that once you mount the balls onto your glue stripes, there is space between each stripe. Mount your golf ball halves onto the glue stripes, and then mount your window valence.

DESK DESIGNS

Construct a rectangular frame out of wood that matches the dimensions of your desk top and is about two-and-a-half inches high. Use a high-quality wood glue to attach the frame to the desk top. Next, fill your frame with golf balls and golf pins. If you have a large enough desk, you could even put a golf club in there. Next, glue a piece of glass or Plexiglas, cut to the same dimensions as your desk top, over the wooden frame. Now you have created a golf show case desk to inspire you to get to work... so that you can get to the golf course!

GOLF FRAME

Buy a picture frame with a wide frame. You can find very inexpensive frames, and you don't need to look for anything that is at all extravagant because you are going to be covering up the frame with golf balls anyway. In the corners of the frame, diagonally glue golf tees, with the pointed part pointing inwards. Next, cut golf balls in half and glue them around the border of the picture frame. You might consider getting colored balls to spruce up the idea.

GOLF LIGHTING

This is a really great craft that has stunning results. To start, buy a simple lamp shade. Cut a piece of aluminum foil to the dimensions of the lamp shade, and then use a hole-puncher. To punch holes all over the aluminum foil. Use a non-flammable adhesive to attach the foil to the inside of the lamp shade. Now, when you turn the light on, the light will shine through your punched holes. Next, use a handsaw to cut halfway through golf balls. Coat the rim of the lamp shade with glue, and then push each golf ball onto the shade by pressing the shade into the slit you made in the golf balls.
