Where to Find Design Ideas and Inspiration

Amateur designers are capable of amazing feats of design. It is not necessary for a person who would like to do a little interior designing to become intimidated. There are many, many sources available to anyone in need of inspiration and guidance in the field of interior design. Whether you look on the Internet, through store or furniture catalogs, or maybe you find your inspiration in a magazine, there are many places to find guidance and encouragement.

Be a copycat. If you are especially fond of a particular store's style of decorating, try to figure out exactly what it is that you like about that style and emulate it in your space. When you look at the store's catalog, what is it that most appeals to your eye? You may find that there are colors that you are instinctively drawn to, or styles of furniture that you like the most. Perhaps it is the overall feel of a room that you see in a catalog that you are wanting to duplicate. Notice the elements and figure out the best way to bring that feeling into your space.

Looking through magazines that are in the style you love the most will also provide you with the right tools toward achieving your desired design. The advertisers in the magazine will most likely sell good and services related to your chosen theme. If you love coastal themes, or southern charm or purely modern decor, there are magazines that specialize in that style as well, and the advertisers will too. Finding examples of what your like should be easier than actually narrowing down your choices.

The Internet provides all kinds of resources to anyone interested in designing any space. There are websites dedicated to teaching people how to decorate, there are sites that teach people how to build or buy furniture. There are millions of sites dedicated to decorating tips. The Internet can provide information on how to paint, stain and recover. There are also programs on the Internet that can provide 3D virtual rooms of your own house.

There are software providers that will allow designers to virtually design a room by exact specifications. Imagine how much easier it will be to make decisions when you can see them on a computer screen without having to paint or move a piece of furniture. You can change your mind a thousand times until you find exactly what you like without spending any money or wasting any time.

There are many places for anyone with an imagination and a room to decorate to find motivation and inspiration. Simply finding out what you like and creating a few spaces that you love will continue to motivate you and keep your creativity flowing.
