Using Posters in Your Decorating Scheme

As I was driving home from work this afternoon, I started thinking about my hall. It's nice enough. When we moved into the house, we had knockdown put on the walls and painted it a soft yellow with white trim but it is still a little bare. Not being very wide, I don't want to hang pictures along the walls.I do have a large interesting ceramic dish mounted at the end of it but I think I can do more.

I always liked the countryside murals that some people have painted on their walls. Some are really beautiful but I don't care for most of the commercially produced wall sized pictures you can buy. They can be expensive and aren't easily changed.

What I was thinking was that I can take a poster and fasten it to an old window that can be mounted on the end wall.If I choose something that is bright enough, on first glance, it will look like another window down there.Adding curtains will enhance the effect. If I do this, I think it would be nice to mount the window with hinges on one side so that the poster can be changed with the seasons. It is not necessary for the pictures to be the same scene but I think they should be regionally appropriate.I don't think a snow capped Swiss mountain scene would work on my Florida wall but a nice beach scene might.

Taking this a step further, it would be easy to buy a poster for each major holiday.I think my grandchildren would love to come see what Grandma has on her wall this time.Since posters are economical and they could be purchased over time, this is one decorating feature that would stay fresh for years to come.
