It is finally spring, and summer is just around the corner. When you start dreaming of the beach and palm trees of the tropics, it is time to bring some of that color into your home. The easiest way is to add tropical flowers to your decor.
Yes, it is true that tropical flowers cost more than the local varieties. That is because they are shipped in from all over the world. And it isn't as costly as you might think. Tropical blossoms can last for over a month, with some attention and care!
You want to get orchids, birds of paradise (the Mexican variety too),hibiscus, calla lilies, anthurium, protea, heliconias, and ginger last and last. Three to five stems is all you need for an arrangement. This is because they are usually large blossoms, have exquisite shapes, and bold, vibrant colors. They can be mixed bouquets or have just one type of flower.
Most of these flowers come in the brightest reds, oranges, pinks and yellows, but your orchids can go from the most royal of purples, and the boldest of yellows, to the most delicate of pale lavenders and whites.
A container made of bamboo or mango wood will add to the tropical flavor of your arrangement. A few tei leaves, some philodendron, and maybe a tick of bamboo and you will have it made. Put on some steel drum music or reggae, fix a couple of pina coladas, and you will believe you are in the Bahamas!
