The Popularity of Stamped Concrete

What is it?

Stamped concrete is concrete that is molded to bear resemblance to tile, stone, wood, brick, etc....  There are 3 procedures that are used in stamped concrete that make it unlike any other procedures out there.  These 3 things are as follows:  (1) the inclusion of an accent color, (2) the inclusion of a base color, (3) and stamping a pattern into the concrete. Stamped concrete is routinely used for driveways, walkway, patios, pool areas, and internal settings.  Since stamped concrete has the flexibility to be able to bear the resemblance of other building materials, this makes it less expensive than using those other materials that were discuss earlier.  Finally, it is very durable as it can stand up to difficult weather as well as areas that have a lot of traffic from different sources.

Is it expensive?

As in so many things, cost is important to the average consumer.  Most concrete contractors know that utilizing stamped concrete is a great way to satisfy the customer without breaking the bank.  Simply put, you get a lot for your money with stamped concrete.

How long has it been around?

Stamped concrete has been around since the late 1950's.  It has gained in popularity in the 1970's and has really taken off this decade.  The difference between then and now is that there were very few choices back in the day.  Over the years, the industry has grown and so has the technology.  Today, there are more stamping patterns and different types of stains that give us a plethora of solutions that will allow the designers to create a work of art every time.
