Simply and Lively Decorating Tips For Area Rugs

There are so many different and great ways that you can really spice of the interior charm of any room in your home by placing area rugs in the right spots. The trick to doing this properly is not nearly as difficult as you may think that it is. All that really is necessary for decorating a room properly by adding area rugs is keeping your eyes peeled for the tonality of the room, the color patterns that it exhibits, and the overall contrast of the interior. And still, many people will struggle when trying to find and place area rugs throughout their homes. These simple tips should help you avoid any troubles when trying to place an area rug in your home for optimal decoration.

Matching the Tone of the Room

Take a note of the color patterns and schemes that are prevalent in the room you are trying to decorate. There are a variety of different area rugs and patterns that can easily bring your room to life. Look for an abundance of sharp colors, like deep reds, or mahogany woods, and of course, neutral tones like grays and light browns and tans. Then make your choice of area rug patterns that will best compliment those tones. For example, a room that exhibits many hues of red may look best with a neutral contrasting sisal area rug that has a non-conflicting brown border. Whereas a room that has many different neutral tones, like browns and tans, may be livened up by placing a resounding red shag area rug.

Choosing the Right Materials

Materials are everything when decorating your home with area rugs. For rooms that are more rustic, try countryside patterns, that yields a high traffic material. For decadent rooms that have a warm and soft feeling, a shag rug will work magnificently. And for those high-traffic rooms that are mostly neutral, a sisal or jute rug, or even a moutaingrass or seagrass rug will do the trick nicely.

Proper Placement Makes the Eyes Widen

Make sure that your area rug is placed in proper alignment with the setting of the furniture and the artwork in the room. If placed underneath a coffer table, try and center the table on the middle of the rug. For rugs placed at an angle, make sure that the corners are not being bent against anything. And for rugs that are placed on stone, tile and or wood, assure that they look spatial in their placement in the room.
