Revamping Your Kitchen in 3 Easy Steps

Have you ever meandered into your kitchen still sleepy from that Sunday morning slumber to put a kettle of tea on and started making that nourishing breakfast? Out of the blue, it dawns on you: you don't even know your way around your own kitchen because it is so muddled and unorganized! You are definitely not alone in your anguish. The majority of kitchens that you will see are so messy that finding where something is can sometimes take just about as long as preparing the food that you aim to eat.

What it boils down to is that over time, lots of of us permit our kitchens to become sprinkled with disarray, normally due to the fact that we just can not seem to find enough time to actually restructure our possessions in the most useful manner. In all actuality, getting the kitchen area in order can be a time consuming task that many will put off. But there are some pretty easy steps that you can take to whip your kitchen back into shape, provided you are willing to commit the necessary time in order to do so.

The first step seems rather backwards, but it is a necessary evil on your road to the kitchen of your dreams. Start by getting rid of all of your items from all of the cabinets, cubbies, drawers and other storage areas. Take everything out from everywhere and put it aside in organized piles. For instance, place all of your pans in one pile and all of your silverware in a different one, and so on. In order to get your kitchen back into order you will first have to create chaos, so to speak.

Now that you have piles of your kitchenware spread about in heaps across the room, it's time to make up your mind about how you plan to organize this chaos. Design an easy-to-understand diagram, a simple pen and paper pad will be adequate for this, and use it to come to a decision about where to place all of your stuff. First, use large, bottom cabinets for the most space-consuming possessions like pans, crock pots, large mixers, etc. Next, devote one or more drawers for various items like tape and string, notepads, and others. Third, use the upper cupboards for cups, plates and bowls. Fourth, if you have top space above your cabinets, save this for vases, large serving plates and carafes. And last, if you have a food cupboard, combine most food items in order to make space for other cooking utensils.

Once you have designed your diagram, and you have a good idea of where to start, it is time to get going. Be sure to set aside a few hours of your day to organize your kitchen, because you will need the time. It is prudent to you try and employ a friend or two to help you, and entice them with lunch if necessary. Be sure to stick to your diagram and your kitchen will become efficient and organized in a just a few short hours.
