Does your memory foam mattress have a foul odor? If so you can take steps to eliminate it. Most people think that if you wash memory foam that you will damage it, but this is not true. If you follow the directions laid out here in this article you should be fine.
You need: Plastic spray bottle, Woolite fabric cleaner, white vinegar (distilled), water, water hose (detachable shower head or garden hose), electric fan.
The steps:
- Take the foam to your shower. If there isn't enough room in your shower or you do not have a shower head that is detachable then you may want to consider taking your foam outside near the garden hose.
- Fill the spray bottle with a mixture of two parts water and one part Woolite fabric cleaner.
- Spray the entire mattress with the Woolite/water mixture. Make sure you get the spot that has the odor. Let the Woolite/water solution sit on the memory foam for at least 30 minutes.
- Rinse the mattress with the water hose or shower head. To remove excess water do NOT wring or twist the foam. Simply fold it over and press down.
- Fill up the spray bottle now with 4 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Spray the entire mattress with the vinegar/water solution.
- Rinse off the mattress again just like before and remove the excess water just as before.
- Use the electric fan to aid in the drying process.
That's all there is to is. Once you complete these steps your foam should be odor-free!
