Modern Furniture Placement Tips

If you are planning to decorate your house or want to replace the old furniture with modern furniture, then here are some tips for you. You must first decide the theme that you want to set for your house. After this you must look at the size of the rooms. If a room is large, you might want to divide it to give a more cozy and friendly atmosphere to it. You can part it with a sliding door or beads or open shelves. You can make a dining area or a study on one side and a sitting or living room on the other.

If a room has a picture window or a bay window, place the furniture to face the window. This allows everyone to admire the view and will make the place look bigger. In a large room use solid colors and furniture made of dark wood.

If the rooms are small try using pale colored wood furniture or transparent furniture. Transparent furniture made of strengthened glass and plastic makes a room look bigger.  Try mirrored furniture also as they reflect the light and make a room seem bigger.

Try and decorate your house in one theme or style. Don't mix up the styles and create a mishmash theme. Add some of your own style to the house. Artfully place an antique table a vase or any other item. This will become the focal point of the room and break the monotony.

Modern furniture placed artfully with some old style pieces gives the home a unique look and shows your personality. Too much plastic, clear glass and white walls can make a room look sterile. This will be unwelcoming and will give a very unfriendly look. On the other hand, too many pieces of solid dark and heavy furniture will make a room look outdated and gloomy.

Modern furniture placement can be a big problem. You can overdo it, under do it or get the right balance. What you want to achieve is the right balance. Don't line the furniture up against the walls. This looks like the reception area of a clinic. Again leave enough space to move around.

When you find modern furniture, which you want to get, pre-visualize the placement. You may want to change the color of a wall or get a painting to break the monotony. You can try placing the furniture at different angles and seeing how it looks. You don't need an interior decorator to help you, a little imagination will do.

Each room can have its own style as long as the overall theme remains. Pieces of furniture that are used often should be placed conveniently. You don't want to keep trudging back and forth from your favorite chair. The distance between chairs is important. They should not be too close or too far. Between a table and a sofa or chair, there should be enough space for a person to get up and leave without stepping on another person's toes.
