Many people are putting off moving and instead are looking for inexpensive ways to update their home. It's often difficult to know where to begin when it comes to redecorating, but fortunately there is an easy way out -- hire the assistance of an interior designer. Designers are professionals that are up to date on the latest trends regardless if you prefer modern furniture or a more classic appearance. They will work with you to blend the colors, fabrics and textures that you like into an updated and timeless home that you can truly be proud of.
Accent With Accessories
When you accent with coordinating accessories, the room will finally look complete. Throw pillows, wall art, vases and lighting fixtures can all work to pull a room together. Many interior designers will stock a wide variety of these items, making it easy for you to do one-stop-shopping once your style has been established. Be open and honest with your designer, ask for their input then remember you are the one that has to live with the decision. The goal of the designer is to create a room that works well together with the blend of the total contents, modern furniture, classic styles, window coverings and fixtures that are complimented with accessories.
Pulling It All Together
Once you've decided on the style, you will need to pull the look together. This is done as you finish off the room with distinctive wall colors and window treatments. If you decide to go with a modern furniture look, for example, your designer may suggest contrasting bold colors on one wall as an accent. The designer will have experienced painters that they can employ should you decide that you don't want to complete the painting task on your own. If they do a high volume business they may even be able to pass on any discounts they are able to obtain.
Window treatments can complete a room and is often the next step in the decorating process. There are many options available including curtains, roman shades and wooden blinds. Each brings their own distinctive look and function to a room.
A Room Is Based With Your Furniture Selection
Most rooms will have one main piece -- a table, couch, or bed for example. Meet with your interior designer to decide what this is going to be and what style your prefer. Before you decide on a style, for example modern furniture, the designer will discuss at great length your preferences and attempt to get an idea of the look you want.
If you have the time, many designers will go shopping with you -- passing along tips as you go from store to store. If time is a problem, your designer may take the information they have gathered from your conversations and do the shopping for you. They will purchase individual pieces for your approval. This option may cost you a bit more if the designer has to purchase the pieces upfront but many designers will have agreements with modern furniture stores to negotiate a discount because of the volume of business they do. They will in turn, pass these discounts on to you.
When you work with an interior designer it means you'll be able to create exactly the room of your dreams. You'll be so pleased with the results you most likely will want to remake every room in your home and never want to move.
