Importance Of Interior Design | The popularity and importance of Interior Design has increased, as has the awareness of the roles played by both interior designers and Architects. I must admit, it is easy for someone to simply advise 'you need an interior designer', however, in my years of experience, I find it easier to be kinder to have a basic, clearly pointed out definition of what a professional Interior Designer does. There is no dressing up involved in defining this profession...
The professional Interior Designer is qualified by education, experience, and examination to enhance function and quality of interior spaces. For the purpose of improving the quality of life, increasing productivity, and protecting health, safety, and welfare of the public, the Professional Interior Designer would need to be responsible for numerous activities:
• Analyse client's needs, goals, and life as well as the safety requirements • Integrates findings with knowledge of interior design • Formulates preliminary design concepts that would be deemed appropriate, functional, and aesthetic • Develops, presents final design recommendations through appropriate presentation media • Prepares working drawings, specifications for non-load bearing interior construction, materials, finishes, space planning, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment • Collaborates with professional services of other licensed practitioners in the technical areas of mechanical, electrical, and load-bearing design as required for regulatory approval • Prepares and administers bids and contract documents as the clients' agent • Reviews, evaluates design solutions during implementation and upon completion
