One of the things that people do when they go to shop for bedding for their beds, they base their judgment on the number of threads that have been used per square inch. What I wonder is whether this is really necessary? The people who sell these sheets seem to think that it is necessary and thus, will display these sheets in their stores and will sell them at very high prices.
This may be through; let us view this from a different perspective, such as a mathematical equation. If we say that luxury bedding is an equation that has more than one variable, considering that the number of thread counts per square inch is one of them, then judgment of the quality of the bedding should be done on the basis of the methods used to produce the fabric. There are mainly two ways of producing fabric: one of them is to manufacture the fabric and the other is to let nature take its course. The one that has been suited to be the best is the natural fabrics and the prices of the same usually reflect this.
These days, luxury bedding means that there are a very high number of threads per square inch for a particular sheet. Thus, a fabric is proclaimed to be more comfortable, soft and has a good feel. But it is important to note that no guaranties are given that no chemicals were used in the process. The use of chemicals can give an impression that the sheets are comfortable and smooth but wait till they begin to wear out! The remnants of such wearing out are a fabric with poor quality that may cause injury to the skin. In order to get a good count on the number of threads used, some manufacturers add small pieces of fabric together. It is because of this that many people have been misled to buying sheets that seem to be luxurious yet they are poor fabrics.
As stated earlier, if you need good fabric for bedding, go for the natural ones; cotton is by far the best. It has an added advantage of allowing the skin to breathe. Another one you may want to try is silk.
