Finding a Headboard to Match Your Bed

The bed is an important item that is there in any home. It is used to sleep on and relax. Since it is a basic commodity for comfort, there is the need to make it more appealing and comfortable in the bedroom. The ordinary bed consists of the headboard, the mattress and the box spring. Headboard is the piece of raised furniture that is normally attached to the head of the bed. The main basic function of the headboard is to retain the pillows and other bed linen from falling off. At the time that the headboards were introduced they were for the basic function. However, today the headboard is bought for aesthetic purposes. Therefore, the headboard is not only the main focal point of the bed but also the whole bedroom.

The headboards come in many varieties of sizes and materials like, leather, wood, and metal. The metal can be pewter, wrought iron, heavy gauge tubing, cast steel or bar wire. Some headboards are adjustable and can range from a height of 48' to 68' and take on the matching sizes as the normal beds, that is, Cal King, King, Queen, Full, and Twin. The Twin is besides referred to as the single bed, the Cal king California king, full as double, queen as queen size, and king as eastern king.

It is important to take your time to select the headboards before making a final decision because they are a style statement. The headboards are available in a variety of shapes such as rounded corners, squares, swept back curves and domed with padded boundaries. They also come in a variety of styles such as upholstered headboard that has raised panels, tufted buttons, or intensely upholstered with padded boarders.

The upholstered headboards give the bed extra comfort since the leather is of good quality and that the padding is firm and strong. These days the leather and padded headboards are available in a whole variety of colors. The darker color one makes the room appear smaller while the much brighter one makes it appear much larger. You can choose the colors to enhance the room if you want it to be roomier or reduce it if you feel there is too much space. To make the room even more personal you can decide to match the upholstered headboard with the settee. You can also match it with the other furniture in the bedroom to create that beautifully desired ambience.

Quite often designers are fond of outfitting a bedroom with an incredible headboard especially if you want to make the bedroom seem less roomy. This also allows increased use of the bottom of the bed. The headboards are available with or lack the normal engineered frame that is used to hold and attach the headboard to the bed. The headboard is the acme of fashion and adds to the beauty of your bedroom. With all the beauty there is no telling if you will ever want to leave your bedroom.
