Famous Interior Designers and Their Styles in Interior Design

The period of the 20th century was the time when famous interior designers started getting recognized by the public. In fact, the interior designing profession started gaining ground only in the later part of that century. Up until then, interior designing was a practically unknown industry. It can't be denied that the world of interior designing is not as prolific as the world of fashion for example. However, there are many enterprising, creative people who have made their mark as professional and influential interior designers. Several of them even design for the affluent, elite class of clients.

A number of famous interior designers in different parts of the globe have distinguished themselves by their unique style. One such designer is Nina Campbell.

When Nina was twelve, she along with her mother would reposition furniture after having dinner. This uncontrollable habit probably contributed to Nina's talent for beautifying, revitalizing and decorating. Nina's career in the field of interior decoration took off when she worked for John Fowler - a name associated with the famous wallpaper and fabric designing company - Colefax and Fowler. Nina's style coupled with her sense of fabric and color helped her progress many steps forward in her career. Presently, Nina is one of the globe's leading interior designers and her range includes fabric, trimmings and wallpaper collections, and also collections of other items like furniture, table linen and gift wrap.

Italian Mauro Lipparini is another eminent interior designer. He is probably best known for his 'natural minimalism' style. Lipparini's style is characterized by wonderful touches of pleasure and joy. His use of bold colors and innovative visual ideas conveys several elements of the artistic. Lipparini has made several commendable contributions to the industrial design industry, including developing products for Japanese and European firms of high repute. Accolades that he has won in the course of his career include the International Du Pont Award Koln and the Young & Designer Milano.

Yet another well-known interior designer is Rachel Ashwell, popularly recognized as the owner and founder of Shabby Chic and also the host of the TV program of the same name. 'Shabby Chic' is a term that reflects Ashwell's decorative tendencies. This includes providing the home with anything from antique furnishings to new tables, sofas, rugs and lamps. She gives importance to the cozy feel and also to flowers. Ashwell always goes for a combination of creams and whites; and light pinks, sea-foam greens and blues. Several top names in the celebrity business have benefited from Ashwell's exceptional designing talents, including singer Jennifer Lopez. Madonna, Anthony Hopkins and Julia Roberts are her other star status devotees.

A celebrated name from the Middle East that has graced the interior design world and met the needs of the rich and famous is Israel-born Ron Arad. Ron Arad achieved popularity in the 1980's for being a self-taught maker and designer of sculptural furniture. He is the creator of the Ron Arad Studio in Como, Italy and his works appear in many architectural and design publications across the world. He has also exhibited at a number of galleries and museums.
