No need to panic if your bedroom is too small. There are many things you can do to increase the space of your room. Simple and affordable things such as paint, rearranging furniture, and adding window treatments is all you need to open a smaller room. Let's get started!
The first thing that can instantly make your room larger is paint your ceiling. When you make your ceiling the same color as your bedroom walls, you will instantly open up the room. The seam lines will be gone, and your ceilings will appear higher than they really are. Make sure you select a lighter paint color. Lighter colors such as a light blue, lavender, or a pale yellow will open up a small room, while darker colors such as red, burnt orange, darker shades of blue will make your room appear even smaller.
The next thing you can do is use your windows as a focal point if possible. Center all of your bedroom furniture in front of the windows. This will help take attention off of the size of the room, and draw your attention to the windows.
Dress your windows with window treatments that contain vertical stripes. Stripes will instantly make your room look much larger. You also want to make sure you hang your window treatments as close to the ceiling as possible. The longer the drapes hang, the larger your room will appear. You can also hang drapes behind the bed along the entire wall. This trick will make your small room appear grand by drawing the eye upward.
