Choosing the Correct Carpet For Your Floor

All types of carpets can be found in just about any home store and flooring stores. There are many different kinds of carpets to choose from that will match any of your interior house colors and themes. There are the Berber types and the plush types. Also available are carpets from Asia that have pure silk threads. Commercial grade carpet is available for your business and motel. Outdoor carpet can be purchased for the rear exterior covered porch. There are wall to wall versions and remnant versions which can be laid in the middle of a room.

Before you go to the home center or flooring outlet, decide where you want to place the carpet and how much you will need. Get an idea of measurements before you go. Below are some guidelines to assist in choosing the correct carpet for your house.

1. Color - Color is the first consideration to look at. You must make sure that your carpet fits in with your color scheme and them of the room. Bright colors can bring about life and dazzle to a room while a earth tone can bring a calmness to the area.

2. Traffic Areas - Figure out if carpet is placed in a high traffic area. More traffic means faster wear and tear on carpet. Carpet will also get dirtier quicker. Do not use the most expensive one in this area. Hallways and entrance ways maybe should get a tile or linoleum. Watch out for the expensive carpet in the room where you eat. Consider the spillage and the difficulty of cleaning up the spills after they happen.

3. Materials - Carpets are made out of wool, silk, synthetic fiber and other materials. Berber carpet tends to cost more that a regular carpet material. Of course your price will rise with the higher quality materials.

4. Durability - Buy a durable material if you want the carpet to last. Heavy traffic areas should get a more durable material. If you are only going to have the carpet as a temporary floor covering for a few years, then go with a less expensive version obviously. Nylon is the best durable material you want to use if you want strength.
