An Innovative Design For a Corner Desk by a Unique Company

It is interesting how, just when a market becomes stagnant, someone comes along to freshen it up. So it is true with a corner desk. All corner desks were starting to look familiar: either a tall space saving tower style, or a lower sprawling style with two work surfaces and a hutch. After all, what else can you do? Then I came across Legare, office furniture with not only a unique style, but also a leading edge, eco-friendly company, and with innovative assembly.

First, not only is the furniture unique, but how the company got started is unique. It all began in 1999 in a new, start-up internet company. Buying office furniture on a shoe string budget was out of the question, so one of the founders, Brock Brandenberg, decided to design his own. He questioned the people in the office to know what they wanted in a good office desk, and went to work from there. Some of the requirements included a wrap around corner desk with a work surface that you could place both arms on, shelves, holes for computer cables, modesty panels along the bottom, it should be modular and good looking.

Within a few months, his new desks were ready, and the employees had a desk assembling party. His design was so well received at the office, and so complimented by everyone who came by, that he knew he had something that could be marketed to others. Though there have been some small changes, the furniture they manufacture today follows the same design principles as the original.

Most office furniture today falls in the RTA market, meaning ready to assemble, including all hardware and everything else you need. But, Legare makes FTA, Fun to Assemble, furniture. There is no hardware of any kind, a corner desk or any other piece of their furniture uses a patented locking design making assembly fun, fast and simple. You may worry about the pieces coming apart, but they won't, not until you take them apart, plus they are very strong. They are also reverse configured so that they can be assembled left or right handed, or what if you get a bad scratch on the surface? Just flip that piece over and assemble the other way.

Besides a real nice corner desk, Legare also makes straight desks, desk extenders, bookcases, media centers, file carts, small tables, and accessory shelves that either go on top of the desk or can hook into slots on the side of a desk. Both desk styles have small shelves under them as part of their design.

Legare has two primary furniture lines: Legare Sustainable and Legare Select.

Legare Sustainable is made from natural bamboo that is only sourced from GSC Certified mills, and use bamboo plywood because it is the most efficient use of the bamboo stalks.

Legare Select is their more affordable furniture made out of ash and oak veneers, and besides carrying everything mentioned above, it also includes a colorful line of children's furniture.

One of my favorite things about a Legare straight or corner desk is its stylish, smooth, curved lines that are created, I believe naturally, with its tab and slot assembly design. It is just different enough to make it really stand out from other office furniture. So if you are in the market for a new corner desk, this is one brand you definitely want to check out before buying.
