2 More Themes For Your Basement Decorating Project

The idea of basement decorating for everyone doesn't have to be difficult. You also don't need to worry about your basement ending up too cluttered. You don't really have to put every individual's interest in the basement. If you did that, the other rooms in your home would be useless and everyone would just head off to the basement. What you can do instead is to work around common themes.

Work Theme

You can explore the possibility of transforming the basement into an inviting workroom. Laundry naturally comes to mind. If you want a traditional laundry room in the basement, you can set up your laundry equipment and add some furniture and entertainment. You can add a few soft couches and bean bags to relax on while the machine washes your clothes. Throw in some magazines and books in mini shelves and stands. You can add a small entertainment system so laundry can be a bit more tempting for the non readers in your family.

Laundry isn't the only thing you can work on in the basement. Work as a theme for basement decorating can also translate to crafts and hobbies. You can set up work areas for any favorite family hobby such as wood carving, cross stitching, painting, beading and the like. If your family members have different hobbies, you can divide your basement into small sections.

Entertainment Theme

One other theme that would be perfect for your basement would be entertainment. The possibilities are endless. If your family loves to play games and table sports, you might consider having a ping pong table, a mini pool table and perhaps a card or board game table. You can save some space by going for table designs that can be converted from pool to game tables. Stack some shelves with all of your family's favorite board games and every night will be family play night in the basement.

Other than entertainment or work equipment, you can add more to your basement. Consider some basement decorating accessories. You can put some posters or use light decorative paint to make your walls more attractive. You can also use decorative lamps, spot lighting and recessed lighting to help you create the right mood for a variety of occasions.
